Harlem’s Fashion Row (HFR) is a leading agency dedicated to connecting brands with designers of color in the fashion industry. Through services like brand strategy, collaborations, new media, experiential marketing, recruitment, and pipeline programs, HFR has paved the way for increased representation and opportunity. Founded by Brandice Daniels in 2007, HFR has collaborated with some of the biggest names in fashion. Their latest partnership with Gap is perhaps their most exciting yet.
To commemorate Black History Month, HFR and Gap unveiled a limited-edition collection curated by five talented Black designers: N’gai, Kaphill, Richfresh, BruceGlen, and A. Potts. Each designer put their own unique spin on Gap’s iconic pieces, transforming them into fresh, reimagined designs. The collection’s campaign, aptly titled “It’s Only Up From Here,” reflects the potential for even greater success in future collaborations.
In celebration of this launch, HFR hosted a special event at Gap’s Times Square store, where both designers and consumers had the chance to mingle, take photos, and showcase the collection. Many attendees proudly wore pieces from the new line, and I had the opportunity to capture a few moments from this historic gathering.
This successful launch is a testament to the undeniable influence and relevance of designers of color, showing that their contributions are vital in shaping both culture and commerce. You can explore more photos from the event here.
